Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, May 18, 2025) – The victim in this case has been identified as Victor Ramirez Jr., 17.

Mr. Ramirez’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, May 18, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 100 block of Winding Path Way in the Eastway Division.

On Sunday, May 18, shortly after 3 a.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 100 block of Winding Path Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim with sustained gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The subject was pronounced on the scene by MEDIC.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also responded to assist.
