Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, March 12, 2026) – The victim in this case has been identified as Evelin Carolina Enamorado-Cisnado, 26.

On Wednesday, March 11, officers located and arrested Lhis Birito Costa, 23, in connection with this case.

Costa was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) to be interviewed by Homicide detectives. At the conclusion of this interview, Costa was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Costa is charged with Murder.

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of her death and this case update.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division. Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, March 10, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at the 4300 block of Central Ave in the Eastway Division

On Tuesday, March 10, shortly after 4:30 pm., officers responded to a welfare check call for service in the 4300 block of Central Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim with apparent life threatening injuries. Officers pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command and Victim Services also responded to assist.
