Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, February 8, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3000 block Timber Hollow Drive in the Eastway Division.
On Sunday, February 8, shortly after 2 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 3000 block of Timber Hollow Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim with life-threatening injuries who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. MEDIC transported to a local hospital where the victim was pronounced deceased.
Officers detained a person of interest on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and CFD also responded to assist.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
