Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Central Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, May 1, 2025) – As a result of the continued investigation, CMPD detectives identified Tychicus Dobie, 29, as a suspect in connection to this case.

On Wednesday, April 29, homicide detectives obtained arrest warrants against Dobie for Murder and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.

Dobie was in custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges and was served with arrest warrants.

Mr. Henry’s next of kin has been notified of this arrest.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, November 15, 2025) – The victim in this case has been identified as Tanarus Tajuan Henry, 31. His family has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, November 14, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at the intersection of 7^th Street and Davidson Street in the Central Division.

On Friday, November 14, shortly before 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle collision with injury call for service at the intersection of 7^th Street and Davidson Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Novant Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also responded to assist.
