Fatal Vehicle Crash in the North Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, March12, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal vehicle crash in the North Division.

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, at approximately 5:34 p.m., North Division officers responded to a vehicle crash with injuries call for service in the 9900 block of Statesville Rd.  Huntersville Police Department, The Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC also responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers located a Dodge Charger and a Toyota Carolla off the roadway with damage to the front end of both vehicles. The driver of the Toyota, Julian Allen (35) was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Dodge Charger, Booker Crank (34) was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and DWI Task Force responded and processed the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Toyota was traveling north on Statesville Rd and crossed the double yellow line and collided with the Dodge Charger that was traveling south. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest.

Further investigation will be needed to determine if impairment or speed is a factor in this case.

Mr. Julian Allen’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
