Fatal Vehicle Crash in the Independence Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, March 30, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal vehicle crash in the Independence Division.  

On Thursday, March 26, at approximately 8:27 p.m., officers, Charlotte Fire and MEDIC responded to the 8100 block of E. Independence Blvd. in reference to a vehicle crash involving a car and a motorcycle.

Upon arrival, officers located a damaged motorcycle and Adian Lynn Garcia, 34, lying in roadway with life-threatening injuries. Nearby, officers also located a Chevrolet Impala and its driver.

On Friday, March 27, Ms. Garcia was pronounced deceased due to her injuries sustained in the vehicle crash.

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of her death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation. As further information develops, it will be released by CMPD’s Public Affairs Division. Any witness to the crash or anyone with information concerning the crash should contact Detective W.
