Fatal Vehicle Collision in the Freedom Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, May 27, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred near the 400 block of North Hoskins Road.
On Friday, May 23, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Freedom Division officers responded to a check for welfare call for service near the 400 block of North Hoskins Road. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male, Marquise Antonio Stanley, 32, laying in the roadway and a 2011 Yamaha motorcycle nearby. MEDIC responded and pronounced Mr. Stanley deceased on the scene.
Detectives with Major Crash Investigations Unit and Crime Scene Search (CSS) responded to the scene and began their investigation.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Stanley was driving southbound on North Hoskins Road when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a utility pole.
It is unknown if speed and impairment are factors for Mr. Stanley. Toxicology results are pending.
Mr. Stanley’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
