Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, January 7, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the North Tryon Division.

On Monday, January 6, 2025, at approximately 6:49 a.m. officers from the North Tryon Division as well as the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC responded to the 4500 block of Reagan Drive in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located a female, later identified as Petrina Ann Williams, 48, laying on the ground. Officers also located a white 2018 Ford Transit with front right and windshield damages. The driver of the Ford was identified as Eliceo Zunun Aguilar, 20, and he remained on scene. MEDIC transported Ms. Williams to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased later that morning.

CMPD Major Crash Investigation Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigator responded to conduct the investigation.

The initial investigation indicates that The Ford Transit which was being driven by Mr. Aguila was traveling west on Reagan Drive heading towards N. Graham Street. As the vehicle was traveling west, Ms. Williams crossed the road in front of the Ford and the right front of the vehicle collided with Ms. Williams.

At the time of the crash, it was dark, raining and Ms. Williams was wearing dark clothing. Ms. Williams crossed the road outside of a marked crosswalk.

Speed is not a contributing factor for this vehicle collision. The Ford’s airbags did not deploy during the crash. Mr. Aguilar was not impaired during the crash. Toxicology report is pending for Ms. Williams.

Next of kin has been notified of Ms. William’s death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
