Fatal Pedestrian Crash Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, Nov. 14, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the Freedom Division.
On Thursday, Nov. 13, at approximately 6:07 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries involving a pedestrian in the 3300 block of Wilkinson Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian, Terry Honeycutt, 73, lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Nearby the pedestrian, officers also located a Ford Escape with front-end damage. MEDIC arrived and pronounced Honeycutt deceased on scene. The Charlotte Fire Department also responded to assist.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and Motor Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. Members of Crime Scene Search (CSS) responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
The preliminary investigation indicates the Ford was traveling east on Wilkinson Boulevard when Mr. Honeycutt was struck as he was walking across Wilkinson Boulevard. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
Toxicology results are pending for Mr. Honeycutt.
Mr. Honeycutt’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division.
