Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in the Metro Division.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, at approximately 1:16 p.m., officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC responded to the 3100 block of Freedom Drive in reference to a motorcycle collision that resulted in injuries. Upon first responders’ arrival, a blue motorcycle was located outside the roadway with damage to the vehicle. The rider, later identified as Mr. Kaiden Riley Molitas, 18, was located unresponsive near the motorcycle.
Mr. Molitas was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was later pronounced deceased by medical staff. Impairment is not suspected and pending toxicology report. Contributing factors for this crash are under investigation.
Mr. Molitas next of kin has been notified.
The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
