Fatal Crash Investigation in the South Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, December 28, 2025) – On Saturday, December 27, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Fire Department and Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Service Agency (MEDIC) responded to the 1900 block of Carmel Road in the South Division for a single vehicle collision with injuries.
Upon arrival, a white 2022 Honda CRV SUV was located off the roadway to the right. The driver, Mr. David Patrick O’Neill was in the driver seat, unresponsive with life-threatening injuries. Mr. O’Neill was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Speed is suspected to be a contributing factor for this crash. Impairment is unknown pending the toxicology report.
Mr. O’Neill’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
