Fatal Crash Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, May 9, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the Metro Division. 

 

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at approximately 11:53 a.m., Metro Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injury in the 3500 block of Brookshire Boulevard.  Upon arrival, officers located a Harley Davidson motorcycle with front-end damage and a Cadillac DTS with damage to the front left corner.  The motorcyclist was located in the roadway with serious injuries.  The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.  Medic transported the motorcyclist, Kendrick Andre Neely, 50, to Atrium Health Main with life-threatening injuries.  He was pronounced deceased a short time after arriving at the hospital.

 

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, Motor Unit and members of Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to conduct their investigation.  The preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Neely was traveling north on Brookshire Boulevard when the Cadillac driven by, Rico Conception Aery, 41, turned into the path of Mr. Neely’s motorcycle.  The impact of the collision caused Mr. Neely to be ejected from the motorcycle.

 

Mr. Aery was arrested and transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following: Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle.  Mr. Aery was also issued citations for Driving While License Revoked and Failure to Yield Right-of-Way.

 

Mr. Neely’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
