Fatal Crash Investigation in the Independence Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, January 7, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the Independence Division.

 

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, at approximately 9:07 a.m., Independence Division officers responded to a single vehicle crash with injuries near the 8000 block of Monroe Road.  Upon arrival, officers located a 2014 Buick Encore off the roadway.  The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.  The driver, Reco Alexander Foushee (DOB: 11/09/1990), was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.

 

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. 

 

The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Foushee was traveling northbound on Monroe Road near Renard Ridge Drive when his vehicle struck the curb, left the roadway and struck a tree.  Mr. Foushee was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

 

Mr. Foushee’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
