Fatal Crash Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, March 12, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the Hickory Grove Division.

 

On Monday, March 11, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Hickory Grove Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injury involving a pedestrian near the 6300 block of Albemarle Road.  Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive pedestrian lying in the middle of the roadway and a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse with front end damage.  The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene.  MEDIC transported the pedestrian, Charles Evans Frazier, 67, to Atrium Health Main where he was pronounced deceased.

 

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, members of the DWI Task Force and Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to conduct their investigation.  The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Frazier was attempting to cross Albemarle Road when he was struck by the Mitsubishi driver by, Brandon Calderon Estrada, 20.  Mr. Frazier was not in a cross walk.

 

Mr. Frazier’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

 

The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing.
