Fatal Crash Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, April 28, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the Hickory Grove Division.

 

On Sunday, April 28, 2024, at approximately 12:33 a.m., Hickory Grove Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injury in the 10900 block of Albemarle Road.  Upon arrival, officers located a 2008 Toyota Highlander in the westbound lanes of Albemarle Road with extensive damage. The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, Jared Jamer Sibby, 31, was ejected from the vehicle.  The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.  Medic transported Mr. Sibby to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

 

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene.  The preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Sibby was traveling westbound on Albemarle Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and went off the left side of the road.  As a result, the vehicle overturned multiple times and Mr. Sibby was ejected from the vehicle.

 

Toxicology results are pending.

 

Mr. Sibby’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
