Fatal Crash Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, May 7, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the Freedom Division. 

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 10:07 p.m., officers located a crash involving a parked vehicle and a 2013 Chevrolet Impala in the 9500 block of Wilkinson Blvd. Officers discovered an unresponsive male victim in the driver side of the Chevrolet Impala. Medic pronounced him deceased on scene from injuries he sustained from the crash.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and the DWI Task Force responded to the scene and hospital to conduct their investigation. Crime Scene Investigations also assisted.

Speed and Impairment are suspected as contributing factors for this crash. The toxicology report is pending.

The victim in this case has been identified as Reginald Singleton, 37. The family of Mr. Singleton have been notified of his death.
