Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, March 27, 2024) As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have classified this case as a justified homicide.  The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office has consulted with the CMPD’s Homicide Unit and concurs with the detectives’ decision not to charge anyone in this case.

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of this case status.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, March 24, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 3500 block of Arvin Dr. in the North Division.

 

On Sunday, March 24, shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to a call for an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 3500 block of Arvin Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives are speaking to a person of interest.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
