Case Update: Death Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, April 14, 2024) – The victim has been identified as Justin Carache-Soto, 21. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 12, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 6200 block of Upas Lane in the Hickory Grove Division.
On Friday, April 12, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 6200 block of Upas Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. MEDIC also responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted.
