Case Update: Death Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025) – The victim in this case has been identified as Thomas Montague Carter, 54.
Mr. Carter’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 3000 block of Central Ave. in the Eastway Division.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, shortly after 4 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 3000 block of Central Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male body with head trauma. The person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and CFD also assisted.
