Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 11, 2025) – As a result of this continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) Homicide Unit have identified Khanahnai Coleman, 20, as a suspect in this case and obtained warrants for his arrest.

Friday, April 11, 2025, Metro Division officers located Coleman and arrested him on the outstanding warrants.

Coleman was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) and was interviewed by homicide detectives.

At the conclusion of this interview, Coleman was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Coleman is charged with Murder and Armed Robbery.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, February 21, 2025) – The victim in this case has been identified as Rashaad Joshua Sinclair, 27. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 20, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2400 block of Lucena Street in the Metro Division.

On Thursday, February 20, shortly after 9 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with injuries call for service in the 2400 block of Lucena Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and CFD also responded to assist.
