Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, May 28, 2025) – After a death in relation to this case, this has now been ruled a homicide. The victim in this case has been identified as Jamariyee Dixon, 16.
On May 27, Mr. Dixon was pronounced by the medical staff of Atrium Health.
As a result of the continued investigation, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit detectives identified Marion McKnight, 20, as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
He was brought to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) to be interviewed by detectives. Following his interview, Mr. McKnight was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. McKnight has been charged with Murder.
Mr. Dixon’s next of kin has been notified of his death and the arrest of Mr. McKnight.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon Investigation in the Metro Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday May 24, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting an Assault with a Deadly Weapon investigation in the 1800 block of Stroud Park Court in the Metro Division.
On Friday, May 23, shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with injuries call for service in the 1800 block of Stroud Park Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered three victims with gunshot wounds.
All three were transported to area hospitals. Two suffered life-threatening injuries while the third sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A suspect was arrested shortly after and there is currently no search for additional suspects in this case.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, MEDIC and CFD also responded to assist.
