Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, February 10, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and obtained arrest warrants for a suspect in connection to this case.

 

On Monday, February 05, 2024, Detectives obtained arrest warrants on Curtis Elliott (DOB: 12/27/1989) for the murder of Jamal Jones (DOB: 03/12/1990).

 

Curtis Elliott is currently incarcerated in the North Carolina Department of Corrections for an unrelated matter. He has been charged with the following:

 

  • Murder
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (January 31, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2100 block of North Davidson Street in the Eastway Division.

 

On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at approximately 8:06 a.m., Eastway Division officers responded to an Assist Medic call for service. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. 

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department, Medic, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
