CMPD Detectives Make Arrest in Indecent Exposure Cases

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Aaron Troy Williams (DOB 6/24/1975) for two separate instances of indecent exposure that occurred in the Freedom and Westover Divisions this week.

CMPD Detectives Make Arrest in Indecent Exposure Cases

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 7, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Aaron Troy Williams (DOB 6/24/1975) for two separate instances of indecent exposure that occurred in the Freedom and Westover Divisions this week.

The first case occurred on Sunday, April 2, 2023, in the 1100 block of Marble Street in the Freedom Division. The second case occurred Wednesday, April 5, 2023, in the 600 block of Fairwood Avenue in the Westover Division. The suspect was observed by citizens in both cases exposing himself in public view while sitting in his car on city streets. The suspect's car is a dark Red 2015 Mazda CX9.

Members of the community reported crucial information about the crimes after witnessing the incidents in person or on a video that circulated on social media of the Fairwood Avenue incident. With the information, CMPD Detectives were able to identify the suspect and obtain a warrant for each instance. The suspect was arrested at his Huntersville residence shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

Thanks to the assistance of the community and the work of CMPD officers and detectives, this suspect was identified, charged, and arrested before he could continue his vile conduct in Charlotte neighborhoods again.
