Assault with a Deadly Weapon Investigation in University City Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, April 9, 2026) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are conducting an assault with a deadly weapon investigation in the 100 block of East McCullough Dr. in the University City Division.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury call for service in the 100 block of East McCullough Dr. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. MEDIC responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
University City Division and Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, K9 Unit and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
