Spay & Neuter

March 2023 Update: Currently there is a 6-8 month wait time for public surgery requests. Once you submit an application, it could take 6-8 months before you are contacted for an available appointment space. Due to this wait, we are unable to respond with inquiries regarding where you are on the wait list. We highly recommend contacting low-cost surgery clinics in and around the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area.

Male & Female Dogs:
If you have a dog over 55 lbs. please take note that there is an even longer wait for an appointment due to minimum cage space.

Please consider going to a low-cost clinic in your area. You find other locations through pets.findhelp.com.

Applicants must be a resident of Mecklenburg County with current proof. (No Exceptions).
Proof of income: If you have an EBT card, are already qualified for FNS, SNAP, WIC, CHIP, Veterans Pension, or similar, you will already be eligible. If not, then you will need to provide proof of household income and number of individuals in the household.

Please help us keep this a free program by donating today!

Why Spay and Neuter?

Spaying and neutering your pets is the most responsible decision an owner can make. There are so many benefits behind this surgery:

  • a healthier and happier pet

  • a major reduction in the threat of cancer

  • they won’t go through heat cycles

  • they won’t feel the need to get out of the fence and roam the neighborhood

  • they’ll be less likely to attack people and other pets

  • they'll be less inclined to mark their territory

  • it will increase your pet’s life expectancy

BUT MOST IMPORTANT: It will prevent the birth of unwanted companion animals which reduces the pet over-population!!
