Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, November 13, 2023) – The deceased pedestrian in this case has been identified as Eddie Antonio Rodriguez Jr. (DOB: 04/09/1997). The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Pedestrian Death Investigation in the University City Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, November 4, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a pedestrian death investigation in the University City Division.
On Friday, November 3, 2023, at 4:19 p.m., University Division and Medic responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by an Amtrak train. The incident occurred near the 7500 block of Old Concord Rd. Officers and Medic located an unresponsive male on the tracks.
CMPD’s Major Crash Unit, CSS, and the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to conduct the investigation. The initial investigation revealed that the adult male was standing in the southbound tracks on Norfolk Southern property. This was not a location where the rail tracks cross a public highway. The male was struck by the train and pronounced deceased on scene at 4:24 p.m. Detectives are working to identify the victim in this case.
There were no injuries to anyone aboard the train.
