Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, June 16, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Ahmad Wrighten (DOB: 10/11/2010).

As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified two suspects in connection to this case.  

On Friday, June 16, 2023, homicide detectives arrested Anthony Rashad Wigfall (DOB: 05/04/1989) and Demetria Robinson (DOB: 02/07/1991).  Both suspects were transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown where they were interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, the suspects were transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.

The victim’s family has been notified of the victim’s death and the arrests.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, June 16, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 5600 block of Sunwalk Court in the North Division.

On Thursday, June 15, 2023, shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service at a residence in the 5600 block of Sunwalk Court in the North Division. The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC arrived on the scene prior to officers and located a 12-year-old victim who had sustained apparent trauma. The victim was transported to Atrium Main, where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives along with Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Charlotte Fire Department, MEDIC, Victim Services, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
