Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, January 2, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect in connection to this case.

 

On Tuesday, January 2, 2024, the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested, Jeremy James Kordell Thrasher (DOB: 02/16/1997), and transported him to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to be interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Thrasher was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

 

  • Murder
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Felony Conspiracy

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, September 2, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in 200 block of Orchard Trace Lane in the North Tryon Division.

 

Shortly before 6:00 a.m. on September 2, 2023, officers responded to an assault with deadly weapon call for service near the 200 block of Orchard Trace Lane. Upon arrival, officers located one victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
