Lead and Copper

Charlotte is a young city and lead in our infrastructure is primarily a plumbing challenge when lead enters drinking water from old private lead service line pipes. In compliance with the recently strengthened Lead and Copper Rule, Charlotte Water has embarked on a comprehensive, multi-year effort to increase lead testing, inventory pipe materials, and educate customers on how to reduce lead risk.
