Case Update: Death Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, June 19, 2025) – The victim in this case has been identified as Sarah Elizabeth Ward, 46.

Ms. Ward’s next of kin has been notified of her death.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, May 30, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 4400 block of Golf Acres Drive in the Westover Division.

On Friday, May 30, shortly after 1 p.m., officers responded to a call for welfare check in the 4400 block of Gold Acres Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a body under the water. The person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and CFD also assisted.
