 Project updates

This project would complete a new segment of the Cross Charlotte Trail along Mallard Creek Church Road at Kirk Farm Park to Pavilion Boulevard. The project team will identify locations that will connect the trail to the broader area bicycle and pedestrian network. The specific project limits and trail alignment will be defined during the planning and design phases. They will be shared on this page with the community once they are determined. 

The goals for this section of the trail are to be the following:

  • Comfortable  - separated from streets and motor traffic and up to 16 feet wide

  • Accessible and bicycle-friendly - hard surface suitable for bikes and wheelchairs, smooth turns and limited slopes to meet ADA requirements

  • Connected - Easy walking and biking connections from adjacent neighborhoods and destinations

  • Enjoyable - Amenities to enhance enjoyment and safety, such as signage, benches, trashcans, landscaping, aesthetic treatments and public art

  • Expandable - Provide opportunities for additional connections and amenities in the future

​​The project team will engage nearby residents, businesses and other stakeholders in numerous ways through​out the planning process. Engagement opportunities may include charrettes, walking tours and public meetings. Details will be shared with residents and businesses once they are determined, and they will be posted on this page and on the Citywide Events Calendar.

$9.443 million

​​​Please note this is the funding amount and includes all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
