03/16/2023

Starting the week of April 3rd, Charlotte Water (CLTWater) and contractor, HG&L, will start construction to replace existing water pipes under Nottingham Drive (Addison Drive to Robinhood Road and Mansfield Avenue to end of the street), Grosner Place, and Deveron Drive (King Edward Road to the end of the street). Construction is estimated to take four months to complete.

03/31/2021

C & D Utility, a subcontractor for Dallas 1 under Charlotte Water (CLTWater) supervision, is replacing a water main on Brook Forest Lane.  This work requires a planned water outage to Brook Forest Lane (between Wonderwood Drive to Dead End) on Thursday, April 1, 2021, between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

If foul weather or some other unforeseen circumstances prevent completion of work, the scheduled makeup date is Tuesday, April 6, 2021, with the same hours.

03/22/2021

C and D Utility, a subcontractor for Dallas 1 under Charlotte Water (CLTWater) supervision, is replacing a water main on Burleigh Street.  This work requires a planned water outage to Hardwick Road (between Burleigh Street to Chillingworth Lane) on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, and Hadrian Way (between Hodgson Road to Chillingworth Lane) on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

Both outages will start at 9:00 am until 4:00 pm and if foul weather or other unforeseen circumstances prevent completion of work, the scheduled work will be moved to the next day.

Charlotte Water (CLTWater) is replacing water mains in your neighborhood.

In order to maintain high-quality water and wastewater services, Charlotte Water constructs dozens of system improvement projects every year. In some cases, the construction of the improvement causes temporary service outages. However, in this time of a community pandemic, in a heightened effort to maintain constant water service, Charlotte Water has taken steps to minimize the frequency and duration of interruptions in water service to customers.

For the 1100 and 1200 block Shady Bluff Drive (between Longbow Road to a dead end) water outage, Charlotte Water will reduce the planned outage duration and number of customers affected to minimize disruption as much as possible. Your water service must be temporarily interrupted to install a blow-off at end of 1200 block of Shady Bluff Drive and abandon the existing 2-inch galvanized steel pipe on Circlewood at 1201 Shady Bluff Drive.

When: Wednesday, June 17, 2020

Water Outage Duration: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm 

If foul weather or some other unforeseen circumstances prevent completion of work, the scheduled makeup date is Thursday, June 18, 2020, with the same hours.

Once service is restored, customers in the immediate area may experience water that appears slightly discolored. Customers may also notice a chlorine odor from the disinfection of the new main. This is quite normal and temporary. To help with this process, run cold water for a short period of time. If water doesn't clear up after 15 minutes, customers should call 311.

Charlotte Water (CLTWater) is replacing water mains in your neighborhood.

Customers in the 800 and 900 blocks (between Circlewood Drive to dead end) water service must be temporarily interrupted to make final connections.

Starting the week of April 27th, Charlotte Water (CLTWater) and contractor Dallas 1 will start replacing existing 2-inch galvanized steel pipe (GSP) water mains with new 2-inch water mains within the areas listed below:

  • Hargett Court
  • King Owen Court

Construction will last an estimated four weeks. Construction can be loud, dirty and inconvenient. Crews will be using heavy equipment and storing materials on-site. Construction will take place beside the road in the road right-of-way. 

03/20/2020

Starting March 26, 2020, Charlotte Water (CLTWater), contractor Dallas 1, and subcontractor Bogue Construction will replace existing 2-inch galvanized steel pipe (GSP) water mains with new 2 and 6-inch water mains within the areas listed below::

  • Shady Bluff Drive (Doncaster Drive to dead end and at the end of the street near McMullen Creek)
  • Worcaster Place (near Shady Bluff Drive)
  • Circlewood Drive

05/23/2019

CLTWater completed the first phase of water pipe replacement projects in Sherwood Forest neighborhood in 2018. Engineers are designing the next phase which includes the following streets:

  • Brook Forest Lane
  • Burleigh Street
  • Circlewood Drive
  • Deveron Drive
  • Grosner Place
  • Hargett Court
  • King Owen Court
  • Nottingham Drive
  • Shady Bluff Drive
  • Worcaster Place

Stafford Circle will be coordinated with The Water Oak Drainage Improvement Project.

The contractor completed pipe installation and restoration for Emory Lane.  Crews also completed pipe installation and service transfers on Briarpatch Lane and Charmapeg Avenue between Lyttleton Drive to Blairmore Drive.  Crews started pipe installation today on Charmapeg Avenue (4900 block).

09/06/2018

The contractor will mobilize and start construction on Monday, September 10th on Emory Lane.  This section of the water main replacement project will consist of 200 linear feet of new 6-inch water main. 

The majority of the construction on Emory Lane will take place behind the road in the right-of-way with a connection of the existing 6-inch main on Emory Lane and N. Sharon Amity in the roadway.  Flaggers will help drivers navigate around the lane closure on Emory Lane when needed.  Construction including testing of the new water main will last around 2 weeks.  

08/31/2018

Charlotte Water (CLTWater) is starting construction to replace existing 2-inch galvanized steel pipe (GSP) water mains with new 2 and 6-inch water mains within the areas listed below:

  1. Charmapeg Avenue between 4930 Charmapeg Avenue to the dead end
  2. Charmapeg Avenue between Lyttleton Drive to Blairmore Drive
  3. Chaplin Lane between Blairmore Drive to the dead end
  4. Roselawn Place between Havilon Court to the dead end

  6. Briarpatch Lane between Charmapeg Avenue to the dead end

Construction may start on September 10th or later and last three-four months.

  • During Construction - Construction can be loud, dirty, and inconvenient. Crews will be using heavy equipment and storing materials on-site. Construction will take place beside the road in the road right-of-way. Any damages due to construction will be restored. Please be aware of your surroundings near the construction site and report any safety concerns to the project inspector as soon as possible.
  • Property Access (Driveway) - Construction activities will take place within the street right-of-way. However, driveway and sidewalk access may be limited at times. If you need assistance, please talk to the contractor or call the project inspector.
  • Please alert us to the invisible fence, irrigation systems, and other underground improvements to your home near the street.
  • Lane Closures and Street Parking - Street Parking may be restricted when construction is in the immediate area. Flaggers will help drivers navigate around any lane closures.
  • Planned Water Outages - Staff will notify affected customers of planned water outages 72-hours in advance. Any unplanned water outages are considered emergencies and will be repaired as soon as possible.
    • Discolored Water is Possible - Construction may cause temporary cloudy, discolored water or lower than usual pressure. If you experience some discoloration in your water:
      • Run the cold water from your outside spigot or tub for 15 minutes.
      • When the water runs clear, run cold water through any taps where discolored water is present.
      • If not clear, call 311 to report issues.
  • Flowing Hydrants - Residents may see water flowing from hydrants as part of construction activities.
  • Restoration - Crews will complete a temporary restoration of anything disturbed by construction. The final restoration may occur after completing a phase or the entire project. Our project inspector can assist with restoration questions. Properties that lose grass during construction will be reseeded and covered with straw.

Public involvement

Areas near construction were notified before construction. There will be planned water outages to move customer’s services to new pipes. Property owners will be notified in advance. If there are unplanned water outage, crews will work to fix it immediately.
