Marjorie Molina

District 5 Representative

Council Member Marjorie Molina Marjorie Molina, a Democrat, was elected to represent District 5 in 2022. She is a North Carolina native, has lived in Charlotte for more than 18 years and has been a member of the East Charlotte community for 12 years. Molina is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for diversity, equity, and ethnic and cultural competency. She has combined her skills as a bilingual communicator and her passion for service to engage stakeholders at all levels and represent her community throughout her professional and public service career.

In 2015, Molina was selected to serve on the UN Women, Global Champion of Women's Economic Empowerment Campaign and led digital strategy, outreach, communications and content development for the signature digital media campaign, iamWoman. She was also nominated by community leaders to participate in the Federal Bureau of Investigation Charlotte Citizens Academy where she participated in discussions about law enforcement and related community outreach with federal agents and community leaders. Molina led the Charlotte office of the North Carolina Democratic Party that organized voters to support the Hillary for America coordinated campaign and was personally recognized by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her work.

Molina has extensive professional experience in the banking and financial services sector, and she has used her expertise to focus on bilingual services for more than 20 years. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Molina worked for Dream Key Partners where she assisted Charlotte families in accessing rent and mortgage assistance programs. Molina also has experience as a small business owner, having launched an auto-repair business in Charlotte that provided bilingual services to customers for more than eight years.

Molina has long had an interest in public policy and a focus on public service. While studying at Arizona State University, she was a Public Policy Capital Scholar intern in Washington, D.C., and was the recipient of the Clovis Campbell Sr. Endowment for Race and Democracy. She has served on the city's Equitable Development Commission as well as the Economic Development Commission.

  • United States Global Leadership Coalition

     

Molina holds a master's in management from UNC Charlotte's Belk College of Business, a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and has earned comprehensive certificates from Central Piedmont Community College in project management and data analytics as well as from Arizona State University in business analysis.
